10kW 4 Pocket E-beam Evaporator
- This system can provide a variety of coatings from Al x-ray filters to multilayer thin films for x-ray simulator loads and innovative quazicrystal coatings. 400kV intense ion beam surface modification facility
- This machine produces a beam of protons and comoving electrons. The beam deposits energy in the first few microns of a material. This property is useful for heat treating and alloying the surface layers of materials. These treatments can produce effects of increased surface hardness, reduced friction, and reduced corrosion rates.
X-Ray Calibration Source - This source can produce cold x-rays from 0.5-10keV that can be used to calibrate spectrometers and detectors. Computer-interfaced Microdensitometer
- A modified Joyce-Loebl Specular Micro-Densitometer with increased (0-5ND) dynamic range and computer control and readout. The minimum step size is 5µm x 5µm. This can used to scan x-ray spectra for computer analysis, or to profile thin films.
300kA, 600kV Pulse Power Generator (formerly known as HDZP-1)
- This can be configured with a capacitive energy store pulse forming line for a plasma radiation source with a180ns rise x-ray pulse for Z-pinch studies. Or, with a plasma opening switch for opening switch studies.
High Speed Time Resolved Spectroscopy - Soft X-ray spectrometers with resolving power of .005Å and time resolution of 4ns. Visible/UV spectrometers with time resolution of 50ns and resolving power of .2Å.
